Aanganwadi teachers isp

Character -building is always a work in progress! But it begins right from infancy. Handling children skillfully right from childhood calls for a lot of awareness.  ISP –Infant SSY program is an experiential workshop that guides parents and teachers to bring about overall balanced development of a child covering their Physical, Mental, Social, Emotional and Spiritual faculties.

Earlier Aanganwadi teachers experienced stress and put in efforts without expected results as they lacked awareness. Their raw approach and corporal punishment failed to get them desired results.

Rishi SamskruthiVidhya Kendra created awareness of this program and enrolled parents and teachers of the aanganwadi to experience ease while dealing with children. We conducted training and also provided necessary skills in the area of parenting and teaching. Currently we have trained 38 aanganwadi teachers which directly impacts 16000 children below 6 years. The program continues to touch lives of children, parents and teachers making learning, teaching and parenting a joyful experience.

Clean India

‘Be the change you wish to see in the world.’  Practically implementing this, the Cleanliness Drive taken up by us , aims at motivating the villagers to adopt cleanliness as a way of life. By walking the talk, the Rishi Gurukulam students, teachers, staff and workers themselves keep inspiring the villagers. The village children, students and grown ups are  encouraged to participate in these activities so that later on they maintain cleanliness of their own accord.

Street play on cleanliness

The reward of cleanliness is cleanliness itself. This thought echoed very loud and clear in a creative attempt made by the students of Gurukulam. It drove home the point that when aware individuals come together to make a difference, the result is there for the whole world to see!

The students proved that the dream of ‘Clean India’ can take the shape of physical reality with the help of dedicated efforts of a committed group.  Self inspired, the students of the Gurukulam took collective responsibility to raise consciousness of one and all through a Marathi musical street play.

Warli painting

Come December and we geared up to take small baby steps towards the ‘Clean India, Green India’ initiative. And if not art, what other way could we choose to do this? To add aesthetic value to our villages, rural children were taught to draw Warli paintings on the walls of a house. Warli painting is a traditional folk art of Maharashtra. It is remarkable in its intensely social nature. The beauty of this folk art lies in its sobriety coupled with ebullience of the themes depicted. After cleaning the walls, the students painted them in white against an austere brown background of mud.

Simple to learn, the children mastered it effortlessly by making use of central motifs such as triangles and circles taught to them by the Art teacher, Mr. Niranjan.

Besides improving their fine motor skills and giving a creative vent to their expressions, the activity taught the children that on one hand where cleanliness is abstract, beautification is more concrete. One without the other is meaningless. Children loved learning this skill that allowed visual manifestation of their abstract ideas.
