Skill with a purpose

Our Rural women were taught to weave their dreams in the form of designer bags. Rashmi Shah designer from Mumbai trained the women to use leftover cloth materials from her boutique to make colorful bags. These bags would be used by her to give away to her clients. This gave impetus to ‘Ban the Plastic campaign’. Women also learnt to make creative use of waste, value resources and fill their pockets with some hard earned money.

Our meditator Rashmi Shah is a Designer in Mumbai, arranged the bag making workshop for Rural women.

Monday Satsangh

We cannot do great things. We can only do small things with great love.

We added a dash of our love in the lives of our in- house rural staff such as gardeners, cooks, Housekeeping staff, etc. by conducting Monday Satsangh. It is time for them to melt in love rather than be frozen in differences with each other. They work half day on Monday and the remaining half is dedicated to rest, energy session, meditation and fun club. Various scope camp topics are chosen every Monday to help them grow inwards. A feeling of togetherness rules these fun filled workshops.

Keeping the energy for the week very high by doing these weekly sessions. We provide a platform for them to be growing in their values and living by it. Helping them apply all that is taught to them and reminding them.

Naturopathy beauty training

‘There is no force equal than a woman determined to rise.’

We helped determined rural women rise in their own expectations by getting together with INO (International Naturopathy organization). Equipping them with skills in beauty and Naturopathy, they were taught full body massage and parts of body massage. A new dimension added was to improve upon the inner talk while doing all these naturopathic treatments on people.

Renuka along with Pooja from INO conducted the session at our Katarkhadak SSY Kendra on 8th April, 2018.

Groom and Grow!

‘ An empowered woman is powerful beyond measure and  beautiful beyond description.’

Empowering rural girls with skills for financial independence has always been our motto. As part of this initiative, we arranged for a hair styling workshop for rural girls. They were taught different hair styles and ways to adorn hair with colorful beads, pins, etc.

Learning to groom themselves and the need to carry them well was a byproduct of the workshop.

International Women’s day with Padman

On the eve of Women’s day, we let media take charge and do what it does best- be a force of positive change. 130 women from Katarkhadak village celebrated womanhood by gathering  for a special screening of the movie Padman, specially arranged for them. The initiative aimed at equipping women with necessary knowledge and empower them to be leaders in their own right and catalyse development. The movie came as an eye- opener in the area of menstrual hygiene for most rural women. The coming together of women helped even the most reticent ones to speak their hearts out. The beneficiaries promised us that they would put their health at the top of their  priority list henceforth. They  are now willing to visit the clinic meant for them when needed. To add to the celebrations,  we distributed tiffin boxes to them and  enjoyed a meal together at the SSY Ananad Kendra. The Director of the movie, R. Balki lauded our initiative with-” Thank you so much for taking this film to the areas where it has to be seen.” A small baby step to help women speak up, speak for and speak out……

The New born SSY Ananda Kendra hall lent itself for the screening of the movie. Tiffin boxes sponsored by our meditator Gopalji added a special touch to the day.
